What We’re Thankful For This Thanksgiving
As we head into Thanksgiving, I find myself reflecting on how much there is to be grateful for, both as a physician and as a member of the Peak Skin Center team. The pace of life in medicine can be fast, and it’s easy to jump from one appointment to the next without pausing to really acknowledge what makes this work meaningful. Thanksgiving is a good reminder to stop, take a breath, and say “thank you.”
First and foremost, we are incredibly thankful for our patients. Every person who chooses Peak Skin Center for their dermatologic care is placing a profound trust in us. You share your worries about a changing mole, your frustrations with chronic skin conditions, and your hopes for feeling more confident in your own skin. That trust is not something we ever take lightly. You let us perform biopsies and surgeries, guide you through treatment decisions, and sometimes deliver difficult news. Thank you for allowing us into these important moments in your life.
We are also deeply grateful for your kind words and generous reviews. In the age of online searches, many people find us because of the honest feedback others have left about their experiences here. When you take the time to write a review, mention a staff member by name, or share how a visit made you feel heard and cared for, it does far more than boost our online presence, it boosts the morale of the entire Peak Skin Center team. Our team reads those reviews. They celebrate them. They are a reminder that the extra phone call, the detailed explanation, or the warm greeting at the front desk truly matters.
As a practice, we are thankful to be part of the medical community in Fuquay-Varina and the central North Carolina Triangle region. Working alongside primary care physicians, surgeons, oncologists, allergists, and other specialists is a privilege. We see firsthand how collaborative care can change outcomes: a primary care provider who sends a patient for a suspicious spot, a surgeon who coordinates timing around a complex case, or an oncologist who partners with us in managing treatment-related skin issues. Being part of this network means our patients benefit from a team, not just a single office, and we’re grateful for the collegiality and shared commitment to patient care.
On a more personal note, I am enormously thankful for the people who make Peak Skin Center run every single day:
- Our front desk team, who are often the first voice and first smile our patients encounter. They navigate busy phones, complex schedules, insurance questions, and last-minute changes with patience and grace. They often absorb the stress so the rest of the visit feels calmer and more organized.
- Our medical assistant and nurse clinical staff, who room patients, prepare instruments, take histories, assist with procedures, and catch the small details that make a big difference, whether that’s noticing a patient’s anxiety and offering reassurance or double-checking a medication list.
- Our histotech and laboratory team, which helps process specimens and support Mohs surgery, biopsies, and excisions. Their meticulous work behind the scenes directly impacts the accuracy of diagnoses and the success of treatments.
- Our administrative and operations staff, who manage the complex world of healthcare logistics: insurance, referrals, prior authorizations, and compliance. Their work is rarely seen by patients, but without them, nothing else functions smoothly.
I am thankful as well for the culture we’ve built together. Medicine can be demanding and emotionally heavy at times, but walking into a workplace where people genuinely care about one another makes a tremendous difference. I see staff members stepping in to help each other, sharing quick moments of humor in a busy day, and treating patients the way they would treat their own family members. That’s not something you can fake, and it’s something I appreciate every day.
We are also grateful for the opportunity to grow with our community. Each year, we meet new families, see familiar faces return, and follow patients over time. We watch children grow into young adults, manage chronic conditions together, and celebrate clear margins after skin cancer surgery. Being able to provide continuity of care by staying with you through different seasons of life is one of the most rewarding parts of dermatology.
Finally, on behalf of all of us at Peak Skin Center, I want to say thank you for making us a part of your lives and your health journeys. Your trust, your patience on busy days, your feedback, and even your tough questions all help us grow and improve. We don’t take for granted that you have options for your care, and we are honored every time you choose us.
From our Peak Skin Center family to yours, we wish you a warm, healthy, and restful Thanksgiving. Thank you for allowing us to care for you and for giving us so much to be thankful for!
